چکیده

In this paper, a novel nanoscale protein based nano actuator concept is described. Molecular kinematic computational tools are developed and included in our Matlab Biokinematics Toolbox to study the protein nanomotor’s performance using geometric criteria. The computational tools include the development of the molecular motor direct and inverse kinematics using the protein’s Denavit and Hartenberg parameters and the corresponding homogeneous transformation matrices. Furthermore, the workspace calculation and analysis of the protein motor is performed. DOI: 10.1115/1.1900751

Precision Analysis of a Class of Large Displacement Parallel Mechanism for Micro/nano Positioning Applications

Since micro/nano positioning devices are increasingly being made of parallel manipulators due to their characteristics, the precision analysis of a class of parallel platform for micro/nano positioning applications is proposed in this paper. The kinematics model of the dual parallel mechanism system is established via the stiffness model of individual wide-range flexure hinge and then the resul...

Computational Issues in the Planning and Kinematics of Binary Robots

To meet the objectives of many future missions, robots will need to be adaptable and reconfigurable. A concept for such a robotic system has been proposed previously based on using a large number of simple binary actuators. Previous researchers have addressed some of the issues brought up by robots with a few binary actuators. This paper examines the computational feasibility of controlling and...

Optimization of the Kinematic Sensitivity and the Greatest Continuous Circle in the Constant-orientation Workspace of Planar Parallel Mechanisms

This paper presents the results of a comprehensive study on the efficiency of planar parallel mechanisms, considering their kinetostatic performance and also, their workspace. This aim is approached upon proceeding single- and multi-objective optimization procedures. Kinetostatic performances of ten different planar parallel mechanisms are analyzed by resorting to a recent index, kinematic sens...

Design and Optimization of an XYZ Parallel Micromanipulator with Flexure Hinges

In this paper, a nearly decoupled XYZ translational compliant parallel micromanipulator (CPM) is designed for micro/nano scale manipulation with features of piezo-driven actuators and flexure hinges. The CPM structure improvement is made to enlarge the workspace and eliminate or reduce the stress stiffening, buckling phenomenon, and parasitic motions of the original XYZ CPM, which leads to a ne...

Kinematics, workspace and static analyses of 2-DOF flexure parallel mechanism

In this paper, we propose a 2-DOF parallel mechanism with flexure hinges. The kinematics and static analyses of this mechanism are studied in order to determine the kinematics properties, workspace, holding forces of the actuators and the reaction forces at the flexure hinges. These factors are useful for design process of this mechanism. The pseudo-rigid-body model (PRB model) of this mechanis...
